SafeVPN PPTP Ubuntu setup example

Ubuntu comes with Network Manager which natively support PPTP and working fine with SafeVPN.

step 1

Under Network Manager go to VPN connections -> Configure VPN

Press Add button under VPN tab

Select PPTP under options and click Create.

Fill fields with correct details, you can always check correct details in Customer Area
Connection name – Any name like SafeVPN PPTP, not critical.
Gateway – Your server IP here
User name – Your Username here
Password – Your Password here

Press Advanced button.

And check option Use Point-to-Point encryption (MPPE), press Ok to save changes.

Press Apply button to save connection.

You’re start! We have configured SafeVPN account and can close Network Manager.

To connect click SafeVPN PPTP(or your choosen name) from VPN connections.

Once you see lock on Network Manager icon – you’re connected. See image for example.

To close connection use Disconnect VPN option.
Next time just connect SafeVPN from Network Manager
